Why Use Comes Before Price

A buyer once sent us two supplier photos and asked a blunt question: both boards are white, both are 1220 x 2440 mm, so why is the price different?

Nobody is wrong to ask that. A photo does not show much. It does not show whether the thickness runs steadily across the sheet. It does not show how the edge looks after routing, whether the surface takes ink cleanly, or whether a screw holds well enough for a cabinet door. Most problems with PVC foam board appear after the board leaves the quotation sheet and enters a workshop.

What PVC Foam Board Is Made For

The material itself is easy to misunderstand. At the material level, the board starts with PVC resin, calcium carbonate, stabilizers, foaming agents and processing additives. Once the material is foamed, it loses the weight of solid PVC but keeps enough body for normal shop work.

A worker can saw it, drill it, route it, bond it, weld it, rivet it, nail it or shape it with heat. That mix of low weight and easy machining is why the board keeps turning up in signs, cabinets, shop windows, ceilings, partitions, decoration jobs and fabricated parts.

Specification Needs Care

Still, the specification needs care. Many orders start at 1220 x 2440 mm. Larger sheets, including 1.56 x 3.05 m and 2.05 x 3.05 m, are also part of the range. Thickness and density should be selected around the job.

On our product information, density is listed around 0.3 to 0.8 g/cm3, and thickness can cover thin sheets as well as heavier boards. A printing company, a CNC workshop and a cabinet factory may all order PVC foam board, but they should not always order the same density.

Thickness Control Matters

One thing buyers should ask about is thickness control. It sounds boring until it causes trouble. If a sheet is too uneven, a printer may not feed it well. A cabinet workshop may see small gaps during assembly. A CNC operator may need to adjust settings more often than expected.

The questions we hear are usually practical: will it handle water, clean easily, hold screws, resist corrosion, cut cleanly, and meet the fire behavior needed for the project? Those questions are not brochure language.

A bathroom cabinet maker asks about water. A sign maker asks about printing and cutting. An interior contractor asks about weight and installation. A distributor asks whether the next shipment will match the previous one.

Samples and Lead Time

How to Choose Before Ordering

If you are choosing PVC foam board for the first time, do not begin with the lowest price. Begin with the use.

Is the board going to be printed, laminated, routed, screwed into a frame or bent with heat? Is it heading for a dry retail shop, a humid bathroom, a cabinet line or a booth that will be built in a hurry before an exhibition opens? What thickness tolerance does your machine accept? What packing does your customer expect?

Once those answers are clear, price comparison becomes much more meaningful.
